History
From its inception in 1989 Sunset Shores, Inc. was developed with the vision that the frail elderly should have alternatives to institutionalization and that nursing home placement should be the choice of last resort.
Philosophy
We believe seniors should remain an active and vital part of their community for as long as possible. Sunset Shores assists each one of our clients to live as fully as possible independently while respecting each client’s dignity and right to free choice.
Mission
Sunset Shores offers a program of day services in order to assist your loved one to continue living independently. Key Support services are provided for the elderly and the caregiver and we offer comprehensive programs with medical services and social activities for the elderly. Under the supervision of the professional care team, a personalized program of care is prepared to meet the needs of your loved ones. We can help you and care for your older parent or relatives with warmth, respect and affection. The supportive and closely supervised environment is designed to make our elders feel at home.
Approach
The day care services of Sunset Shores are based on a medical model. We believe that with a quality program of education, health monitoring and therapeutic activities in conjunction with a supportive and caring team of professional employees, Sunset Shores’ objective of keeping the elderly independent can be realized. Furthermore, Sunset Shores offers support respite to families who are the primary caregivers of their elderly loved ones, as they can often feel over-burdened, both financially and emotionally.
Our Business
Based in Stratford, CT, “Sunset” is made up of four divisions offering services to older and disabled adults in Connecticut and beyond. The initial company, Remesa East provides bilingual bicultural service to Latino elders. The Harborview-Next Step gives disabled adults an opportunity to experience mainstream community living opportunities. Sunset’s Fiscal Intermediary Program provides fiscal support to disabled adults and their families in and outside of Connecticut. We believe this integration of our clients into separate programs provides them a variety of services and social experiences.
